Many people ask me the same question, “Why is carpentry important?” I can tell them right off the bat that carpentry is more than just a way to make a nice living. Carpentry is also a craft that is fun to do and one that can be passed down through generations. There are a lot of reasons why carpentry is important.

The first reason it’s important is because carpentry is one of the most economic activities you can do. Why? Because carpentry repairs, maintains, and adds to the value of your home. Let’s face it; homes are no longer built solely for the purpose of providing shelter from the elements. People are starting to realize that houses can be used as great vacation spots or as second homes!

Another reason carpentry is so important is because carpentry is one of the few art forms that actually teaches you valuable life lessons. Did you know that carpentry is the oldest profession? It has been said that the average carpentry worker has learned more about what it takes to survive in this world than most of the people who have never learned a trade. Carpentry teaches you how to work in teams, it teaches you how to take individual breaks and vacations, and it teaches you about working in a team. Most carpentry jobs offer steady work and plenty of opportunities for advancement. You can earn enough money to support yourself and your family; and if you want to learn new skills, you can too!

But perhaps the best reason for carpentry is that carpentry is one of the few crafts that actually teaches you how to think for yourself. When you learn carpentry you are learning not only how to make beautiful furniture, but you are learning how to think for yourself. You will learn about budgeting, waste management, and saving as well as how to take pride in the work you do. You’ll find carpentry is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling crafts available; especially if you happen to be good at it.

As carpentry is one of the most artistic hobbies known today, it’s also one of the easiest hobbies to get started. Almost anyone can learn basic carpentry skills in a matter of weeks. Of course, you’ll need some tools to make your first house, but after that, it’s a cakewalk. And even those people who haven’t learned much yet in carpentry can use carpentry techniques while they’re at it. Why is carpentry important anyway?

Because carpentry is one of the few hobbies or craft with a built-in, unbreakable foundation. Practically everything you need to succeed at carpentry has been done before, and if you study carpentry properly you can learn all the tricks of the trade. That’s why carpentry is so important.
